Ways to love your eyes on Valentine’s Day
Eat more dark chocolate!
Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, which combat the unstable atoms that cause damage to cells, especially in the macula. It also contains flavonoids, which protect the blood vessels in your eyes, so the cornea and lens stay strong. This means that not only is dark chocolate good for your taste buds, but it is also good for your eye health!
Treat yourself to some eye friendly makeup.
While getting ready for your valentine’s day occasion, remember to choose products that are good for your eye health! Certain ingredients like color additives, sulfates, parabens, and fragrances can cause irritation to sensitive eyes. Buy products that have been clinically tested and opt for gentle ingredients that moisturize.
Indulge in some vitamin rich berries!
Another good valentine’s day treat consists of strawberries that are rich in vitamin C, which can help with eye-swelling, dryness, vision defects and macular degeneration. Blueberries are also good since they are full of antioxidants that support collagen structure in the retina, protect your retina against harmful UV rays, prevent blockages in retinal arteries, lower high blood pressure, and more!
Vision Therapy Success Story
Our Five Points Eye Care Vision Therapy Clinic helps kids who are struggling to read and have problems with their schoolwork. We also work to give them back their confidence. Lily is one such success story.
Lily was failing school, had poor handwriting and struggled to sit and read for long periods. Her eyes had trouble working together and tracking words as she was reading. After beginning Vision Therapy, Lily now has a new gained confidence and is excelling at school and reading! Teachers have even noticed the great improvement! Her family feels that Noemi is a wonderful therapist who is encouraging and very uplifting and has already recommended Vision Therapy to others.
The Fred Award
Every month, we have our employees nominate another employee for our “Fred Award.” A “Fred” is someone who goes out of their way to uphold our practice core values of Excellence in Eye Care, Patients Come First, and Lead by Example. As a practice, we not only want our employees to come to work to get the day’s job done, but to strive to work harder each and every day for the sake of the practice as a whole.
The Fred Award for the month of September goes to…Celeste Dove!
Celeste always works hard to help our Five Points Eye Care family, whether she is specifically asked to take on a task or not. Celeste goes out of her way to help in every department no matter the challenge. Thank you for all your hard work Celeste!
